This stool was crafted from reclaimed mahogany and marked my first foray into furniture-making. I turned each leg on a lathe and experimented with joinery by cutting wedges into the tops of the legs, applying wood glue, and driving in larger scrap wedges to lock them securely into place. The seat was shaped using a bandsaw and finished with multiple coats of polyurethane for durability and sheen. This project emphasized balance, clean lines, and attention to detail and served as valuable practice in both aesthetic design and precision craftsmanship. My goal was to gain confidence with the lathe and explore joinery techniques I had never used before.
