For this project we were asked to make a more complicated user-interactive design. My group focused on building a user-interactive game that emphasized active listening skills. We decided to recreate a simplified version of the classic Simon Says game using the Circuit Playground Express (CPX). The goal was to design a fun, hands-on experience that challenged the user to remember and repeat a color sequence using external buttons. The CPX would randomly display a color, and the user had to press the corresponding button. With each correct input, the sequence grew, first with one color, then two, and finally three. If the user correctly repeated the full sequence, the CPX would light up and play a victory sound. If the user made a mistake at any point, the CPX lit up red and played a humorous “womp womp” sound to indicate the game was lost. We paid extra attention to cable management so that the final product looked clean and operated without interference from tangled wires. Once the circuitry and programming were finalized, we built a custom box to house the game and even decorated it with a small image of Simon for fun. This project gave us hands-on experience with both hardware integration and user-focused design.
