The goal of this project was to use a Circuit Playground Express (CPX) microcontroller to develop an interactive, user-responsive scenic design. I wanted to create something functional that I could actually use, so I decided to make a wall decoration. Inspired by clap-on, clap-off lamps, I designed a sunflower that lights up when the user claps or makes a loud noise. I started by wiring the CPX and writing the code to ensure the noise activation worked as intended. Once I had the functionality working, I finalized the visual design. This was my first time using a CPX, and the experience went really well. I even configured the wiring so that I could remove the microcontroller later and connect a battery instead — allowing the sunflower to remain lit (though no longer noise-activated) as a standalone decorative piece.
